The Abubilla Music Creative Residency

Twice yearly, Abubilla hosts an invitation-only creative residency at our Spanish studio and retreat space: an immersive week of connection, creation and conversation.

The Residency Ethos

The music industry rewards speed, visibility and algorithmic traction - often at the expense of protected creative time.

The Abubilla Creative Residency exists as a counterbalance: a space to slow down, dive deep and refill the tank of creativity and inspiration.

We know artists produce their best work when they have dedicated time, space and freedom to experiment.

We know there is irreplaceable value in gathering in person, away from the pressures of daily life.

Over years of musical gatherings at our Spanish studio we developed the Abubilla Creative Residency.

Each edition is carefully curated to bring together a group of creative souls chosen not only for their talent, craft and expertise, but for how they can inspire and energise one another.

Who Attends?

Abubilla Artists in Residence

One or two artists from our roster who are at pivotal moments in their creative processes

Curator/Creator in Residence

A respected tastemaker, broadcaster, journalist, programmer or multi-hyphenate industry creative

Session musicians and producers

Hand-selected to align with the sound, genre and ethos of the Artist in Residence

The Role of the Curator in Residence

Each Residency includes one invited Curator in Residence.

These are creatives, connectors, curators and community-builders whose work we admire - people shaping culture from different vantage points: radio, press, festivals, community spaces, digital platforms, live circuits.

The Curator in Residence joins us to share insight, explore conversations, offer their perspective on the Artist in Residence’s work, and to foster community by forging authentic relationships with artist and label.
